ABOUT US
OUR PURPOSE – MEET THE TEAMS
SOUTH TYNESIDE

South Tyneside has a rich history dating back to Roman times, with the life of Bede, the Jarrow March and the writings of Catherine Cookson. The beautiful South Shields Coastline is often seen as the backdrop for the end of the Great North Run. Today – like many areas across the country, South Tyneside faces economic as well as social changes and challenges, which affects all aspects of the community.

CHURCHES TOGETHER – SOUTH TYNESIDE
Churches Together South Tyneside (CTST) was set up by local churches that wanted to work together, with other faiths and the wider community to help local people who are experiencing distressing circumstances such as loneliness, poverty, isolation. We try to reach out with compassion, kindness and practical help and offer a helping hand, following gospel teaching. We also seek to raise awareness of issues facing contemporary society.
